Bachelor's Degree Certificate
Applicants must submit an apostilled copy of their bachelor's degree certificate, regardless of any higher qualifications they may possess. Postgraduate degrees, master's degrees, and other higher qualifications cannot be submitted as a substitute as proof that the bachelor's degree was completed; they can only be submitted as supplementary documents to potentially increase your starting salary level. Only degrees from accredited English-language universities within the designated countries are accepted.
NOTE:
In the case where an applicant was issued a master's degree certificate through completing a combined/extended degree program or due to regional academic traditions, supplementary paperwork must be provided that explains why only a master's degree certificate was issued, and that it qualifies or includes the qualification of a bachelor's degree on an international level.
We strongly recommend having a notarized/authenticated copy of the bachelor's degree certificate processed for the apostille rather than the original as we cannot guarantee that documents can be returned to successful candidates who receive a final placement result. Official digital versions of bachelor's degree certificates will also be acceptable if they are eligible to be processed physically for notarization/authentication and the proper apostille.
If the degree certificate was not issued in English, an official English translation from the university must be submitted as a supplementary document. This translation does not need to be notarized nor apostilled.
The process of obtaining an apostille for a notarized degree certificate copy differs depending on where the degree was issued. Please refer to the relevant authority regarding how to apostille the degree certificate, especially if you completed your bachelor's degree outside of the country listed on your application for Primary Citizenship.
For US/Canadian applicants, a notarized copy of the degree certificate should first be created by a local notary public (or by the university if they offer it). This notarized copy should then be sent to the local state/provincial authority for the apostille.
For South African applicants, the original SAQA Verification Letter must be apostilled together with a notarized/verified copy of a standard non-honours bachelor's diploma. Higher qualifications (Honours, Masters, PGCEs, etc.) can also be apostilled with these documents, as long as they are all verified and included within the same SAQA Verification letter.
For applicants who have yet to receive their bachelor's degree, a letter of intent to graduate (or equivalent) issued by the university registrar's office may be used as a placeholder in order to process your application for potential placement following a successful interview. The contents of the letter must clearly indicate the expected degree completion/conferral date. However, the apostilled degree certificate must be submitted directly to the EPIK Office by the deadline given to you by your assigned coordinator/agency. Applicants that submit a placeholder but then fail to submit the apostilled degree certificate by the deadline will forfeit their placement if they received one.
These apostille policies also apply towards any relevant master's degree that an applicant wishes to submit to be considered for a higher starting salary level.
Where to Process the Apostille
Once you have obtained a notarized/authenticated copy of your Bachelor's degree certificate, it must be processed for an apostille issued by the proper authority in order to meet our application process criteria. Please review the table below for more details.
As with the notarized/authenticated copy of the bachelor's degree certificate, the apostille must also be issued in English or include an official English translation. Furthermore, we are unable to process e-Apostilles for the required documents.
