1. Contract Signing & E2 Visa Issuance


a. Please ensure that you are in possession of the E-2 visa prior to arriving in Korea.

For those who applied through the EPIK office in Korea, please ensure that you are in  


possession of the E-2 visa prior to the commencement of orientation. You cannot attend the


EPIK orientation, nor work in Korea, without the E-2 visa(except F4 or F2-1 visa holders).


b. To apply for the E-2 visa at the Korean Embassy/Consulate, the following items are
required:


copy of your signed contract, Notice of Appointment, your passport, visa application form,
visa
application fee, and recent passport-sized photos.



2. Arrangement and Notification of Flight Details


a. Because all incoming EPIK teachers must arrive in Korea on either August 23 or
August 24

and register for orientation, it is crucial that you apply for your E-2 visa and arrange your

flights to Korea in a timely manner.

b. Once your flight arrangements have been confirmed, please notify both the
Korean

Consulate/Embassy and the EPIK office in Korea of your flight details by August 7th, including:

flight number, departure airport, date and time of departure, and date and time of arrival at

Incheon International Airport (ICN).



3. Others


A. Airfare Reimbursement


a. Incoming airfare reimbursement is issued in the form of a loan from the employer to
the

employee. The loan is in the amount of the actual purchase price of a direct, one-way

economy-class ticket from your residence to ICN. If you successfully complete the contract,

the loan is waived. Flight itineraries that include unnecessary stopovers may not be eligible

for reimbursement.

b. If you have applied from within Korea, your airfare reimbursement is based on the
actual

purchase price of a direct, one-way economy-class ticket from Fukuoka, Japan to ICN.

However, if you have applied in Korea and have then returned to your permanent residence,

your airfare reimbursement will be based on the actual purchase price of a direct, one way

economy-class ticket from your permanent residence to ICN. Flight itineraries that include

unnecessary stopovers may not be eligible for reimbursement.

c. If you purchase a direct, economy-class roundtrip ticket, 50 percent of the actual
purchase


price will be reimbursed after orientation and the remaining 50 percent will be reimbursed upon

the successful completion of the contract. Flight itineraries that include unnecessary

stopovers may not be eligible for reimbursement.

d. To receive an airfare reimbursement the following items must be presented when you
arrive
in Korea for orientation: the passenger's copy of your original flight ticket, the original

purchase receipt from your travel agent or provider, and your original boarding pass.




B. Korean Income Tax Exemption


a. With the exception of Canadians, all EPIK teachers are exempt from paying Korean
income

tax for the first two years of their employment in Korea.

b. If you have previously worked for more than two years in Korea, you will not be
eligible for

this exemption.

c. To be eligible for this tax exemption, you are required to submit official proof of
residency

in the form of a Residency Certification from the jurisdictional taxation department in your

home country. This document must be submitted to the supervisor of your Provincial Office

of Education within one month of your arrival in Korea.



C. Confirmed Graduation


All EPIK teachers must bring their original diploma or a letter of confirmed graduation to Korea.

It is required to obtain an Alien Registration Card.



D. Shuttle Bus Information


a. Complimentary shuttle bus service is provided from ICN to the EPIK Office on August
23rd
and 24th only.

b. The shuttle bus service departs four times daily from ICN.

c. To utilize this shuttle bus service, please visit the EPIK Information Booth located on
the
Arrival Floor (1F) of ICN near Bus Gate Exits 8 and 9(#35). Please refer to the enclosed

transportation information for more details.

d. If you do not plan on using the complimentary shuttle bus service, you are expected
to

arrange your own transportation to the EPIK Orientation Venue(Korea University in Seochang,

Chungnam). You must arrive no later than 18:00 on August 24, 2007.



E. Orientation


All EPIK teachers must attend orientation at Korea University in Seochang, Chungnam from

August 25 to August 31, 2007. If, for any reason, you fail to complete the orientation, it will be

considered to a breach of your contract.
