The EPIK Office extends its deepest sympathies to the people of Japan, who have endured two natural disasters and are now battling another precarious situation at the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant.

We thank EPIK teachers for showing their support in this time of crisis and we join you in hoping for the safety of the Japanese people as well as for the nation’s speedy recovery.

Track Radiation Levels in Your Region

The Ministry of Education Science and Technology is currently operating a National Environmental Radioactivity Monitoring Network, which publicly releases reports of radiation levels throughout the country via major Internet portal sites such as Naver and Daum.

This network has been in operation nationwide, with installations made in 70 locations. After the earthquake in Japan, Korea has shortened the monitoring intervals from 15 minutes to 5 minutes to ensure updated measurements of radiation levels in the environment.

The Ministry also announced that measurements of national environmental radiation levels are normal and can be viewed twice a day (10AM and 5PM) on the MEST Web site.

It is through this network that the Ministry aims to prevent nuclear radiation from Japan from affecting the people of Korea and it is reported that the entire Korea is safe from the radiation.
